The most important specialist area among the funded projects in the science and research sector has so far been sustainability research and forest sciences. More than 80 projects are currently being supported worldwide - from Greenland to China. A major partner is the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, which thanks to the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation has been endowed with a professorship for forest and forest history since 2005. "We not only look back, but also deal with very current topics," explains Robert Mayr. For example, particularly outstanding research work by young scientists is awarded the German Forest Science Prize every two years. New to the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation's portfolio are, among other things, the endowed professorship for forest genetics at the University of Freiburg and increased funding for the profile field “Environment and Sustainability”.
