#ArtSocial21 Support Program

The aim of the three-day event #ArtSocial21 was to discuss pressing future issues in our society such as fair education, digitality, climate change, distributive justice and new work and to find possible solutions. Among other things, ten interdisciplinary teams from the social, digital and creative industries as well as civic activists worked on various ideas in a 24-hour hackathon. The three best solutions received an award.

"#ArtSocial21 had the motto 'Creativity is the raw material of the future' with the aim of supporting people in their self-efficacy and thus strengthening social cohesion," explains Ursel Wolfgramm, CEO of PARITÄTISCHE Baden-Württemberg. "For the first time, the social economy has succeeded in taking new perspectives with completely different industries, namely the digital and creative industries, and working together on solutions for a more sustainable and fairer world of tomorrow," Wolfgramm continued.

The hosts successfully combined social innovation and culture. Artists offered an attractive support program of music, videos, choreographies and productions - they inspired participants as well as viewers. "For the funding of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation it was crucial that this 'Social Hackathon' was accompanied by a culture festival", explains Michael von Winning, Head of Programs and Strategy at the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation. "It is precisely this part of the program that we have funded, because art and culture are particularly hard hit by the corona pandemic. Freelance artists are threatened - and at the same time we all lack one of the important elixirs of life for our society." With the sponsorship of #ArtSocial21, the foundation ties in with the sponsorship of Klangspektrum BW last year. Von Winning: "Our society needs innovation and culture in order to find ways out of the crisis and to create a world worth living in."
