SPACE FOR DISCUSSION
The goal of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation is to identify social challenges in discussions with experts and help to solve them. For the founders, Eva Mayr-Stihl and her husband Robert Mayr, economic success is always accompanied by social responsibility too: "Basic values such as freedom, solidarity, environmental protection and equality of opportunity must be defended by every single citizen to the best of his or her abilities", says Eva Mayr-Stihl. The most important areas of sponsorship are science and research, health, art and culture. The founders are interested in particular in tackling fundamental issues of farreaching relevance in order to achieve as broad an impact as possible. Important global issues also have a place in the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation: The fight against cancer, sustainable future technologies or healthy woodlands, as well as the arts and culture concern us all.
The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation is one of the large charitable foundations in Germany. Abiding by the founders’ views and vision, it is committed to practical social responsibility. “Our credo is to work for a better world, in which physical and mental health as well as a strong sense of sustainable responsibility for the environment are seen as important values by all citizens”, says Eva Mayr-Stihl. “Something that means a lot to me: I want to give something back to the region in which I have my roots.” For this reason Waiblingen and Stuttgart are a geographical focus of the foundation’s work. As a nonprofit and self-determined organization the foundation employs its funds for the benefit of society. The orientation framework for its actions are transparency and the principles of good foundation practices laid down by the Federal Association of German Foundations.
