Young Talent Awards and Germany Scholarships 2022
Every year, the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation awards young talents for master’s theses and dissertations from the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg in the field of sustainability research. This year, three theses from the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH) were awarded for their excellence, which were created in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE.
For his outstanding dissertation on "Perovskite photovoltaic modules with a very low CO2 footprint: The in-situ technology" (Perovskite photovoltaic modules with a very low CO2 footprint: The in-situ technology)" Lukas Wagner received the Eva Mayr Stihl Young Talent Award on October 19, 2022. Ai-Lin Chan was awarded the Robert Mayr Young Talent Prize for her master's thesis entitled "Analysis of the influence of conditioning procedures on PEM electrolysis cells via impedance spectroscopy". Pedro Vieira Rodrigues also received this prize for his master's thesis on »The doping dependance of BH-pair formation and light and elevated temperature-induced degradation. (The doping dependency of BH pair formation and degradation under illumination and elevated temperatures)«.
"We are very happy for our young scientists that their research has received this recognition," says Prof. Dr. Stefan Glunz, Head of Photovoltaic Research at Fraunhofer ISE and Professor at INATECH of the Technical Faculty at the University of Freiburg. "The three prizes also show that the cooperation between the University of Freiburg and Fraunhofer ISE is very fruitful."
The University of Freiburg also awarded nine Germany scholarships this year with the support of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation. The Deutschlandstipendium enables high-performing students to have educational opportunities regardless of their social background and the location of their university. This is shown by the results of the legally required evaluation and accompanying research on the Germany Scholarship. The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation would like to contribute to the promotion of tomorrow's skilled workers and hold the federal government accountable, because it doubles the contributions in favor of the students.
