Donations handed over at Traunstein Hospital

Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation once again supports valuable projects at Traunstein Hospital with 750,000 euros.

Traunstein, 05 June 2024 - The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation is once again supporting Traunstein Hospital this year with a generous donation of 750,000 euros. The funding is intended to maintain and further expand the highest level of care safety and quality for particularly vulnerable patients. The focus is on neonatology and the expansion of medical aftercare services for critically and chronically ill patients.

Critically ill newborns and premature babies benefit from the innovative, gentle and particularly safe Concord Birth Flow procedure, which is currently only used in 15 German clinics, including the Rems-Murr-Kliniken in Winnenden, Swabia, which is also supported by the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation. At the same time, MRI capacities are being expanded for oncological, neurological and cardiological patients. The latest AI-supported technology will make examinations faster and diagnostics more precise, so that the increasing need for care and aftercare can be met promptly. Dr. Paech, Medical Director of Traunstein Hospital, emphasises: "It is particularly important for patient groups that are in greater need of protection to have access to the highest level of care with the latest technology in a timely manner."

Dr. Gretscher, CEO of the hospital, adds: "The collaboration with the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation enables us to invest time and again in patient care that goes far beyond standard care in many areas - and that is also important to us."

Thanks to the funding, psychosocial support in the intensive care units at Traunstein Hospital can also be continued by two specialists. This service is not refinanced in standard care and is now in its third year with the help of foundation funding. The support has been very well received by patients, relatives and staff alike. The two specialists are also involved in a nationwide initiative by the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DIVI) to establish psychosocial support in intensive care units as part of standard funding. Traunstein Hospital is a pioneer in this area and is the only representative of non-university hospitals to take part in committee work and the development of guidelines.

The package of measures improves patient care and the efficiency of resource utilisation at Traunstein Hospital, thereby strengthening its position as the region's most efficient specialist provider.  Josef Konhäuser, Deputy District Administrator, expressed his gratitude: "We are committed to our clinics, going above and beyond our municipal mandate and investing at a time when clinics are dying out everywhere in the countryside. We are delighted to have such a generous sponsor in the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation. A heartfelt thank you to the founders for their close ties to our region."

Robert Mayr, Chairman of the Board and founder of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation, expressed his great satisfaction with the collaboration with the clinics in south-east Bavaria: "I am always impressed by how much dedication and passion you all put into finding ways to achieve such significant improvements for patients with our resources here at the hospital. My sincere thanks and appreciation go to all of you, from the nursing and administrative staff to the doctors and management."
