Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation visits International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) in Vienna

The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists, which promotes global cooperation in forest-related research and enhances the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests. In order to gain a better insight into the work of this organization, which is now over 125 years old, the board of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation traveled to IUFRO headquarters in Vienna.

The current president of IUFRO, Prof. Dr. Daniela Kleinschmit from the University of Freiburg, introduced the guests to the international management committee of IUFRO, which had traveled from four continents to attend the committee's first week of meetings. She - and her whole team - explained the status and further planning for the projects to further develop IUFRO, which she intends to implement during her presidency—with financial support from the foundation.

IUFRO consists of over 15,000 researchers and 630 member organizations from 115 countries involved in forest sciences. IUFRO's mission is to advance research excellence and knowledge sharing, and to foster the development of science-based solutions to forest-related challenges for the benefit of forests and people worldwide.
