Promotion of the Bavarian language and its dialects

The purpose of the Förderverein Bairische Sprache und Dialekte e.V. with its four landscape associations is to preserve and promote the Bavarian standard language and the Bavarian dialects as a cultural asset and as variants of oral and written communication that are common in everyday life. The association organizes events and cooperates with clubs, associations, science, politics, media and related institutions.

The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation has been supporting the association's activities for a number of years, and since 2018 it has also endowed the Rupertiwinkler Dialect Prize.
